Little Axe Public Schools

3-29-2018

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Patrons of Little Axe Public School,

First of all, I would like to personally thank each of you for your support for Little Axe Public School and our teachers at Little Axe Public School. With historic votes at the State Capitol, school funding has been increased and teachers and support staff will be receiving a much needed pay raise. Again, thank you for your support and patience as we have navigated the teacher walkout situation. With a continued call for a teacher walkout, Little Axe Public School cannot safely or effectively hold school on Monday due to a large percentage of teachers choosing to participate in the walkout. This letter is to inform you that Little Axe Public School will be closed on Monday, April 2, 2018. The date to make up for the one day missed will be chosen and shared in the very near future.

In preparation for the teacher walkout, Little Axe Public School requested and received many box lunches (several pallets) from Feed The Children. These box lunches will be distributed through bus routes on Monday, April 2, 2018. The buses will be at their regular bus stops 4 hours later than regularly scheduled for High School/Middle School student bus route. For example, if your child is a High School or Middle School student and the scheduled bus arrival time for pickup is 6:20 am, the buss will be arriving at your child's bus stop at approximately 10:20 am. Another example: If your child is an elementary student and the regular pickup time is 7:25 am, the buss will be arriving at your child's stop at approximately 10:25 am. The buses will be departing from the school at 10:00 am. Reminder, this bus route is for the purpose of distributing boxed lunches from Feed The Children and not for the purpose of picking children up to transport them to school. If you need further information about this schedule, please contact transportation director Renee Stovall at  405-579-2900.

Again, thank you for your support and patience as we have navigated through issues associated with the teacher walkout. If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at 405-329-7691 or via email: jay.thomas@littleaxeps.org

Professionally. Jay Thomas, Superintendent Little Axe Public Schools

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY

The High School will be open during the day and adults will be here to help students use this opportunity to catch up on missing work, work on current projects, prepare for ACT or AP exams and a variety of other opportunities. All high school students are welcome though this will not count as a scheduled day of school. There will also be box lunches from 11:00 to 1:00 that you can pick up and take home available as well.

Thoughtfully, Barry Thomas, Principal Little Axe High School
