Dear Little Axe Parents, Guardians, and Students,
In accordance with the Little Axe Return to School Plan and as recommended by the Oklahoma Department of Education as well as out of an abundance of caution for protection of our students and staff, Little Axe Public Schools will transition to virtual instruction beginning Monday, November 16, 2020. The coronavirus numbers have increased in Cleveland County to the point that it is identified as a “red” county according to the Oklahoma Department of Education. Therefore, the recommendation is to cease all in-person instruction and temporarily close campus to students (including all practices, after school events, and all little league activities). Little Axe will remain virtual through the week of November 16th, 2020, and, according to the school calendar will be out for Thanksgiving Break during the week of November 23rd, 2020. We will communicate the decision to return to school or continue virtual as soon as we can make an informed decision based upon reported numbers.
It is imperative that our students and families understand that while we are virtual, they are expected to complete work and that learning should continue. Our teachers will continue to provide instruction and assignments via Google Classroom. If you are in need of a hot spot, please contact your site administrator. We are nearing the end of the semester, so student’s grades will be severely impacted if they do not complete their assignments.
Little Axe Public School will continue to offer meals for any child in the district under 18 years of age. The school will be serving meals on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in drive through style in front of the elementary. To receive meals, please enter the bus lane on the north end of the elementary, drive in front of the elementary school, and someone will serve you 4 days worth of meals. Please stay in your vehicle.
Please contact your medical provider if your child experiences COVID related symptoms such as, but not limited to; running a fever, sore throat, persistent cough, loss of smell or taste, or shortness of breath.
As a reminder, Little Axe Public Schools require properly worn masks and temperature screenings for all individuals entering all buildings. Hand sanitizing stations are available in every classroom and office, and disinfectant is provided in every room for spot cleaning. Every building is disinfected twice per week with a commercial-grade product designed to be effective for up to two weeks; and our buses have been disinfected after each route (4 times daily).
Thank you for your support, patience, and understanding during this time. If I can be of assistance or can answer questions regarding our COVID protocol, please do not hesitate to email me at email@example.com.
