An ICAP (Individual Career Academic Plan) is a multi-year process that guides students as they explore career, academic, and postsecondary (after high school) opportunities.
By 2025, three out of four jobs in Oklahoma will require education or training beyond the high school level. When students complete an ICAP, they are able to discover which pathways fit their unique talents and what kind of academic preparation and experiences will prepare them for in-demand careers, some of which may not even exist when they graduate from high school.
ICAP produces a product that is student-driven and student-owned. Students should take responsibility in understanding their own interests, strengths, values and learning styles. Create a vision of their future, develop individual goals, and prepare a persona plan for achieving their visions and goals. Gain workplace experience through internships, job shadowing or pre-apprenticeships.
We as a school can give you all the tools, resources and opportunities but if the student does not take self ownership of their future, the work they will be doing...it will go no where.
Awareness- Who Am I?
Exploration- Where do I want to go?
Preparation-How do I get there?
Set goals, Connect instruction and interests, participate in work, school, and community, explore options.
Action- How can I revise and update to my needs and interests through school?
Little Axe Public Schools has choose to utilize Okcollegestart.org as a resource to achieve most of the ICAP requirements.
Students have heard about ICAP through Advocacy's, e-mails, Little Axe High School Google Classroom. This is one reason it is imperative students login to their school accounts daily during the school week.
Every student has have an account already created unless they are new to Little Axe High School.
**If the previous school did not use Okcollegestart, students need to create their account. Directions are below in the PowerPoint.
**If their previous school used Okcollegestart, students need to login to their account and switch the school they are attending under their profile.
It is now required we record ICAP completions on transcripts for graduation.
